KI Incubator company Eyedentity closes oversubscribed investment round led by Norrsken Launcher

Eyedentity, a company in the Karolinska Institutet Innovation Incubator, has closed an oversubscribed investment round led by Norrsken Launcher. Karolinska Institutet Innovation is also participating in the round, alongside other investors. The investment marks an important milestone for the company – and the relationship with Norrsken began at Karolinska Institutet Innovation InvestorDay earlier this year.

Eyedentity is developing an AI-based diagnostics platform designed to enable earlier detection of serious eye diseases during routine eye examinations. The company’s first application focuses on uveal melanoma, a rare and potentially life-threatening form of eye cancer that can be difficult to detect at an early stage.

The technology integrates with existing eye-care infrastructure and supports opticians in identifying cases that may require specialist assessment. Eyedentity is already testing its technology in a live pilot with Synologen, a network of independent opticians in Sweden.

The newly closed investment round was oversubscribed and is led by Norrsken Launcher, with Karolinska Institutet Innovation participating alongside other investors. The funding will support Eyedentity as the company continues to develop its technology and business.

From InvestorDay to investment

Eyedentity is currently part of the Karolinska Institutet Innovation Incubator, where science-based companies receive hands-on support in areas including business development, strategy, financing, investor readiness and access to relevant expertise and networks.

Earlier this year, Eyedentity was selected to pitch at Karolinska Institutet Innovation InvestorDay, the organisation’s annual meeting place for promising science-based companies and investors.

It was there that the Eyedentity team first connected with Norrsken Launcher. The initial meeting developed into a continued dialogue – and ultimately into Norrsken leading the company’s new investment round.

“One of the things we really value about being part of the KI Incubator is that the support goes beyond advice. It also creates opportunities to meet people who can genuinely make a difference to the company. We first connected with Norrsken when we pitched at Karolinska Institutet Innovation InvestorDay, and it is great to see how that opportunity developed into an investment,” says Mats Holmström, CEO Eyedentity.

Supporting companies from development to capital

For Karolinska Institutet Innovation, Eyedentity is a concrete example of how different parts of the innovation ecosystem can work together.

Through the incubator, companies receive support to strengthen their business, develop their strategy and prepare for financing and growth. InvestorDay connects selected companies with relevant investors. And through its investment activities, Karolinska Institutet Innovation can also invest directly in selected companies with strong potential.

Karolinska Institutet Innovation has now chosen to invest in Eyedentity alongside Norrsken Launcher and the other investors in the round.

“Our role is to help ambitious science-based companies build strong, investable businesses and create opportunities for them to meet the right people along the way. Eyedentity is a great example of that journey. The team has developed rapidly during its time in the incubator, made a strong impression at InvestorDay and has now attracted an oversubscribed investment round. We are very pleased to continue supporting the company – both through the incubator and as an investor,” says Johan Weigelt, CEO, Karolinska Institutet Innovation.
