Karolinska Institutet Innovation! New name – same aim.

Innovation rarely happens in a straight line. It starts with an idea, grows through hard work and collaboration, and sometimes becomes a company that can create real benefit for patients and society.

At Karolinska Institutet, the innovation system has developed over many years through several strong environments – from evaluation and validation of ideas to business incubation, community building and early investments. For Karolinska Institutet, this work is fundamentally about giving researchers the best possible conditions to turn knowledge into solutions that make a real difference for patients and society.

As Vice President Martin Bergö emphasizes, a strong innovation system is essential for maintaining KI’s position as a leading force in life science and health. Today, these efforts are brought together under a shared name for clarity and consistency: Karolinska Institutet Innovation.

By connecting the support for early ideas, the KI Innovations incubator, the KI Science Park community, and early-stage venture activities, we are creating a clearer and more connected innovation system – supporting ideas and teams from the earliest stages all the way to growing life science companies.

KI Science Park, will continue to be the community and event platform to connect companies and bridge science and business. What’s new is that we highlight that we are connected and part of the same innovation environment to create opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and long-term development across the life science field.

For researchers, entrepreneurs and partners, the ambition is simple:
to make it easier to understand where to start, how the system works, and how ideas and companies can continue to grow within the innovation ecosystem of Karolinska Institutet.

Together with Karolinska Institutet, we look forward to continuing to support research-based innovation that can make a real difference for patients and society.
